The SDS01 3/2 is a Chevron seal for sealing a rod under a one-sided pressure load. The profile is described in the datasheet as a V-packing set and consists of several individual rings that jointly form one sealing system.
The designation 3/2 refers to the combination of three fabric-reinforced sealing rings and two elastomer sealing rings. This arrangement is used together with a support ring and pressure ring. According to the datasheet, this 3/2 combination has proven itself in practice.
The SDS01 3/2 consists of three NBR fabric sealing rings and two elastomer sealing rings. For the sealing material, the datasheet specifies NBR fabric NBR F 90 3005 and NBR 90 3006. The support ring and pressure ring are also made of NBR fabric.
The elastomer sealing rings must always be positioned between the fabric-reinforced sealing rings. The complete set therefore consists of several V-shaped sealing elements with a support ring and pressure ring at the ends. The individual components are installed one by one.

The SDS01 3/2 can be used with hydraulic oils according to DIN 51524 parts 1 to 3, lubricating oils and lubricating greases based on mineral oils. The datasheet also lists the flame-retardant hydraulic fluids HFA, HFB and HFC according to VDMA 24317.
During selection, the medium must be assessed together with the temperature, pressure and running speed. The datasheet does not provide separate application limits for each medium.
The maximum permissible pressure for the SDS01 3/2 is 40 MPa. The specified temperature range is from -30 to +100 °C. The maximum running speed is 0.5 m/s.
These values describe the operational application limits of the standard version in the datasheet. During selection, the pressure, temperature, speed, medium and available installation space must be assessed together.
V-packing sets are always installed in an axially accessible installation space. This accessibility is required because the individual rings of the SDS01 3/2 must be fitted one by one.
The complete V-packing set must not be compressed after installation. The datasheet therefore specifies that dimension L of the installation space and dimension H of the installed sealing set must always be equal.
Install the individual rings of the SDS01 3/2 in sequence in the axially accessible installation space. The elastomer sealing rings must always be positioned between the fabric-reinforced sealing rings. Always use the V-rings together with the corresponding support ring and pressure ring.
During installation, ensure that the set is not compressed axially. The dimension of the installation space must match the total height of the set. Other ring combinations are possible when required by the available installation width, but the 3/2 combination is the version described in this datasheet.
When selecting an SDS01, first verify that the seal is subjected to pressure from one direction. Then determine whether the available installation space is suitable for the 3/2 combination of three fabric-reinforced and two elastomer sealing rings, including the support ring and pressure ring.
Also assess whether the maximum pressure of 40 MPa, temperature range of -30 to +100 °C and maximum running speed of 0.5 m/s match the operating conditions. Check the media resistance and ensure that the installation space is axially accessible. If an FKM version is required, the specific data for that version must be checked separately.
