An Axial Seal Dichtomatik, Gamma Seal, is an axial rotary seal specifically designed to keep external contaminants such as dirt, dust, moisture and grease out of applications. Seals such as the VRM01 (Gamma Seal RB) and VRM02 (Gamma Seal 9RB) are often used in power transmission and hydraulic systems where protection from external influences is very essential.
A Gamma Seal / Axial Seal consists of a metal outer ring which acts as a solid support for the seal. It also protects against external influences such as shocks, dirt and moisture. In addition, the Axial Seal also has a rubber sealing lip which is often made of Nitrile Rubber (NBR) or Viton (FKM). This sealing lip rotates with the shaft on which it is mounted and keeps contaminants out while retaining internal lubricant. Gamma Seals thus work in a similar way to a V-ring, but thanks to the metal housing, are more resistant to higher rotational speeds and exposure to chemicals or moisture.
The VRM01 Axial Seals Dichtomatik, also known as the Gamma Seal RB are seals that provide protection against dust, dirt, oil, grease and water. Thanks to the combination of the metal outer ring and the rubber sealing lip, this seal provides a good barrier even at higher rotational speeds.
This type of axial seal is designed to effectively accommodate eccentric motion, misalignment and shafts with oscillation without causing loss of seal performance. In addition, friction decreases as speed increases resulting in longer seal life.

Thanks to the extended metal surface at the top, which drops into the stator housing, this seal provides an improved barrier against dust, dirt, oil, grease and water. This makes it suitable for higher load applications.
