O-Ringe sind ein Klassiker in der Dichtungswelt und können in vielen verschiedenen Produkten verwendet werden. Die hochzuverlässig dichtenden O-Ringe werden in den meisten Fällen zur statischen Abdichtung stationärer Maschinenteile gegen Flüssigkeiten und Gase eingesetzt, wie sie in Wasserventilen, Klimaanlagen, Fahrzeugmotoren und Dentalbohrern benötigt werden. O-Ringe eignen sich aber auch hervorragend als dynamische Dichtelemente, auch für Kolben- oder Stangendichtungen in der Hydraulik.
O-Ringe gibt es in unterschiedlichen Materialien, je nach Anwendung des O-Rings muss dieser beispielsweise beständig gegen Ozon, Quellung oder hohe Temperaturen sein. Weitere Anforderungen an O-Ringe sind zum Beispiel, dass sie Chemikalien widerstehen, druckfest sind oder extrem niedrigen und extrem hohen Temperaturen standhalten. Freudenberg verwendet eine Vielzahl von Materialien, um sicherzustellen, dass die O-Ringe den Anforderungen der unterschiedlichsten Anwendungen gerecht werden. Beispielsweise vereinen FEP/PFA-beschichtete O-Ringe die hervorragende chemische Beständigkeit von PTFE mit dem elastischen Verhalten eines Elastomers. Diese O-Ringe werden verwendet, wenn die chemische Beständigkeit eines PTFE-Elastomer-O-Rings nicht ausreicht, da die Dichtung auch elastische Eigenschaften haben muss.
Freudenberg O-Ringe haben eine lange Lebensdauer. Je nach Anwendung bietet Freudenberg O-Ringe an, die mit geeigneten Pulvern, Spezialfetten, Emulsionen oder Lacken beschichtet sind. Dadurch kann dieses Allround-Produkt für den jeweiligen Einsatz optimiert werden. Dadurch wird der Verschleiß des O-Rings reduziert und hat eine deutlich längere Lebensdauer. Je nach Anwendung des O-Rings muss ein O-Ring beständig gegen Ozon, Quellung und hohe Temperaturen sein. Weitere Anforderungen an O-Ringe sind zum Beispiel, dass sie Chemikalien widerstehen, druckfest sind oder extrem niedrigen und extrem hohen Temperaturen standhalten.
