The KDS01 is a Chevron seal for sealing a piston under a one-sided pressure load. The profile is described in the datasheet as a type DS V-packing set. The standard version uses a 1/0 combination and consists of one V-shaped sealing ring made of NBR fabric.
The sealing ring is combined with a POM pressure ring. Together, these components form a sealing system whose geometric shape is supported by the pressure ring. According to the datasheet, the KDS01 achieves a very low leakage rate.

These values describe the operational application limits of the standard version in the datasheet. During selection, the pressure, temperature, speed, medium and available installation space must be assessed together.
The KDS01 must be installed in an open installation space. The piston must therefore be split so that the sealing set can be installed without deformation. The individual elements are installed separately in the seal housing.
For applications in double-acting cylinders, it is important that the V-packing set has axial space. The datasheet specifies the condition L > H for this purpose. This clearance must be maintained in the installation design.
First open the split piston construction so that the individual elements can be installed without deformation. Install the NBR fabric V-packing and POM pressure ring separately in the seal housing. The components must not be subjected to uncontrolled deformation during insertion.
For double-acting applications, verify that sufficient axial space is available and that the condition L > H is met. If a different ring combination is used, this arrangement must also match the available installation space.
When selecting a KDS01, first verify that the seal will be used as a piston seal and that it will be subjected to one-sided pressure loading. Then determine whether the standard 1/0 combination with one NBR fabric V-ring and a POM pressure ring is suitable for the application.
Also assess whether the maximum pressure of 40 MPa, temperature range of -30 to +100 °C and maximum running speed of 0.5 m/s match the operating conditions. Check the media resistance and provide an open, axially suitable installation space. For special material versions or other ring combinations, the corresponding product data must be checked separately.
