The WAS profile is designed for the dynamic sealing of rotating machine components such as shafts, hubs and shaft assemblies. The main sealing lip is pressed against the shaft surface by a garter spring and the sealing function is independent of the direction of rotation. An additional dust lip limits the ingress of moderate amounts of external dust and dirt. The fully rubber-covered outer surface provides a secure fit and supports static sealing in the housing bore.

This version in FKM can be used within a temperature range of -25 to +150 °C. The maximum specified circumferential speed of the WAS profile is 8 m/s and the maximum permissible pressure is 0.05 MPa. FKM is suitable for mineral and synthetic oils and greases, engine oil, gearbox oil, ATF oil, fuels and various hydrocarbons. It also provides very good resistance to ozone, weathering and ageing. The maximum pressure, temperature and circumferential speed cannot necessarily be reached simultaneously.
